Job Title: Qualified Level 3 Childcare Practitioner

Hours: 12 Hours a week. Tue, Wed, Thurs, but this will be monitored and reviewed in order to reflect the needs of the child. Additional hours may also be required to cover staff training and sickness therefore flexibility is desired.

Responsible to: Childcare Manager/Deputy

Broadmayne and West Knighton Preschool is looking for a new team member to join us to support a child that requires 1-1 SEND Support.

The role will require you to have experience of working with children who show challenging behaviours. The successful candidate will join our experienced team in supporting the child with social interaction, play based learning, speech and language and engaging in preschool. The post requires candidates who are resilient and calm in the face of sometimes difficult behaviour.

Broadmayne is a popular village preschool just outside the town of Dorchester.

All candidates will be required to:

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of safeguarding and welfare procedures;

Have a commitment to working with children and supporting them to reach the best outcomes;

Have excellent communication skills and be able to engage with children, parents and colleagues;

Have an interest in Special Needs;

To have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, and to have experience in observing and recording children's learning and development

To deliver and adhere to the child's individual educational plan (IEP) and deliver interventions as stated within the IEP.

To plan stimulating activities that extend interest and supports the child's development and learning experiences/opportunities both inside and outdoors.

Be able to work effectively under the direction of the room lead whilst also being able to use their own initiative.

To work with the Management Team, the child's family and external professionals to ensure the individual needs of the child are being met.

To work with Multi-Agencies where appropriate.

To promote and provide an inclusive environment.

Candidates will need:

Level 3 relevant childcare qualification

To be flexible, and approachable

To have a passion for Early Years education, and to help all children reach their full potential.

Excellent communication skills

An understanding of and commitment to positive behaviour management

Have a passion for supporting children with SEND

Personal resilience

Sense of humour

To be professionally reflective

Confidentiality

Desirable:

Paediatric first aid trained

Safeguarding qualified

Experience of working with multi-agencies

To have previous experience of providing 1-1 support to a child with SEND.

The successful candidate will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Government safer recruitment guidelines.

Contract length: 1 academic year 2021-2022

Part-time hours: 12 hours per week
